100 Miles of Harmony: The start week
Welcome to the official start of the training block for Umstead 100. The past few weeks, hopefully, you have been working to build your base; now we’re about reacquainting your legs with the road and trail. Now, the work truly begins. As we embark on this 25-week journey.
This is part of a series of posts regarding how we prepare, plan, and train to complete the 100-mile Ultramarathon Umstead 100. Our series for this event: 100 Miles of Harmony. For all the ultrarunning series, here, follow the link. Training for a 100. Alternatively, you can also follow last year series in our Podcast so you don’t miss the weekly summary post or our Album with a few songs with learning nuggets to prepare you for an ultra event.
For this training season we will divide the posts into three main areas (Assessment, Planning and a section for Diabetes Learning Notes), followed by the weekly plan. Each week a topic and sometimes some homework for you to consider.

Planning:
Here you will find a few recommendation on what to do and consider with possible ways to implement.
Diabetes Learning Notes:
Here we will record this section mostly for the type 1 diabetic runner tackling this monumental goal.
Next week plan:
