Relentless to 100: Week 10

Basically, with ten weeks to showtime, let’s do a quick review of how we got here. But 1st, let us also take some time to reflect on all that we have learned and have been able to put into practice these past ten-plus weeks. Below a few of the key, but every week, we cover many topics to reflect and put into practice as we go along with the plan.

This is part of a series of posts regarding how we prepare, plan, and train to complete the 100 miles Ultramarathon Umstead 100: Relentless to 100. For all the ultrarunning series, here is Relentless to 100, last week’s post, and for additional ideas, follow the link. Training for a 100.

Up to this point, we have covered over 750 training miles.

We have run over seven long runs 20 miles or longer.

We have completed between 1-3 Ultra distances already.

We have run over 12 weeks of Back to Back long runs and a couple Back to Back to Back long runs.

We are in pretty good shape to tackle what is coming up next for training, getting us ready and in preparation for completing the 100-mile event and finishing it with a smile.

Assessment:

Check the upcoming plan and adjust accordingly.

Why I am training and doing this for – Your Why

Your Fueling strategy, what works well? What is not? Planning the calories for training and the event.

The importance of recovery and how to go about it.

Chafing and hot spot areas, taking care of it, and other details.

Planning the course and what to do with time.

Planning:

Review the different topics and evaluate how well you are tackling each one of the areas. It is time to reflect and adjust as we are still learning and getting all the adaptations from the training.
