Cisco 5kAlright this marks the completion of my third year of running and my fourth Cisco 5K run. This event was the one that started it all the one that definitely hooked me into running. The event started at 11:00AM, sunny, small breeze temperature slightly warm. I did about a mile of warm up with some butt kick and high knee segments. The 1st mile was just a little bit under 8:00 minute mile. At this time I am feeling good but breathing hard. The second mile again was about 8 minute mile.

At this point there a few things that inspired me to press on the pace, as few of the runners I know, co-workers, some that were younger than me, one by one I got close and then pass them with enough confidence that they were not willing to pursue to the chase. One of the last runners ones I passed, said to me “How you doing?” I responded, “Doing good, and you?”. Then he said ” You are doing a good pace, do not F**k it up”. I cracked a smile, laugh mentally and press on. Last mile was very difficult, I slowed down a bit, temperature was rising and the sun was pounding. That last mile was closer to the 9:00 minute per mile pace, but still was able to deliver a  strong last portion of the race. I am happy with the results with a 5k PR in this event. Another friend of mine just finished less than couple minutes ahead of me, that is the target for next year, lol
